Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Unveils New AI Chips at GTC
Today, all attention is focused on Nvidia (NVDA) chief executive Jensen Huang as he presents the company’s latest advancements in artificial intelligence chips.
Vera Rubin Platform and Blackwell Ultra AI Chip
In February, Huang announced that he would reveal information about the Blackwell Ultra AI chip and the next-generation Vera Rubin platform during the annual GPU Technology Conference, commonly referred to as GTC.
Huang assured attendees that Nvidia has some "exciting developments" to share regarding enterprise and agentic AI technologies, reasoning models, and robotics. Last year at GTC, he introduced the highly anticipated Blackwell AI platform, which has seen a successful increase in production and generated billions in sales shortly after its release, according to Huang during the company’s fiscal fourth quarter earnings call.
Market Expectations and Analyst Insights
According to analysts at Jefferies, Nvidia’s announcements at this year’s GTC could serve as a significant boost for the company. They believe investors are ready to refocus on the technological advancements rather than being distracted by supply-chain concerns. Similarly, Bank of America analysts have stated they expect Nvidia to reveal appealing updates on the Blackwell Ultra, particularly regarding inferencing for reasoning models, an area in high demand from leading firms like OpenAI and Google.
Furthermore, these analysts are looking forward to insights on Nvidia’s next-generation networking technology, as well as the company’s future potential in autonomous vehicles, robotics, and quantum computing.
Project DIGITS and New Opportunities
Kevin Cook, a senior stock strategist at Zacks Investment Research, suggested that Huang would elaborate on Project DIGITS, a personal AI supercomputer. He mentioned, "I’ve indicated for years that Nvidia GPU systems resemble the iPhone cycle, but even better, as enterprises are willing to invest in the latest technology from Jensen while still using their existing hardware, thanks to integrated updates provided by CUDA software."
Cook believes DIGITS will empower smaller developers to create their own AI models and applications. He remarked, "The launch of DIGITS represents another pivotal moment for Nvidia, providing developers and startup founders with an affordable tool priced at less than 5% of the newest Blackwell GPUs, making it an attractive option for personal use."
