Southwest Airlines and Other Major Stocks Decline in Thursday's Pre-Market Trading

U.S. stock futures opened higher this morning, with the Dow futures climbing by approximately 0.1% on Thursday. Despite the overall positive trend in the futures market, shares of Southwest Airlines Co. (NASDAQ: LUV) experienced a significant drop in pre-market trading.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Department of Justice jointly filed a lawsuit against Southwest Airlines. The lawsuit accused the airline of operating “chronically delayed flights,” which has led to numerous disruptions affecting passengers. As a result of this news, Southwest Airlines’ shares fell 3% to $31.83 during pre-market trading.

In addition to Southwest Airlines, several other stocks saw declines in pre-market trading:

  • Transcontinental Realty Investors, Inc. (NASDAQ: TCI) saw a dramatic drop of 31.8%, with shares trading at $19.01.
  • C&F Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: CFFI) experienced a decline of 15.3%, bringing its shares down to $60.01.
  • SI-BONE, Inc. (NASDAQ: SIBN) fell 14.7% to $14.01 after having gained 5% on Wednesday; the company recently released preliminary fourth-quarter revenue results.
  • Radiant Logistics, Inc. (NASDAQ: RLGT) shares tumbled 13.8% to $6.03.
  • ANI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANIP) saw a decrease of 11.6%, with shares falling to $50.01. ANI Pharmaceuticals announced preliminary fourth-quarter and 2024 financial results, along with a preliminary outlook for 2025.
  • Silexion Therapeutics Corp. (NASDAQ: SLXN) dropped 11.3% to $1.38 following the announcement of a $5.0 million public offering.
  • Unisys Corporation (NASDAQ: UIS) shares dipped 8.9% to $6.03.
  • NewAmsterdam Pharma Company N.V. (NASDAQ: NAMS) declined 5.6%, with shares trading at $22.66.

The fluctuations in these stock prices reflect broader uncertainties in the market and specific challenges faced by each company. Investors appear cautious amid ongoing developments in the market and government actions impacting certain sectors.
