Uttar Pradesh Government to Employ Helicopter Surveillance for Kanwar Yatra, Adorning the Skies with Flower Showers on Devotees

Published July 7, 2024

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has announced its plans to ensure vigilant oversight of the forthcoming Kanwar Yatra, an annual pilgrimage, by deploying a helicopter to monitor the event. In a gesture of reverence and celebration, the authorities will also scatter flowers from the sky upon the devoted kanwariyas (pilgrims) as they undertake their religious journey. This decision was publicized through an official proclamation on Saturday.

Elevated Vigilance for the Sacred Journey

The customary Kanwar Yatra, which witnesses throngs of devotees called kanwariyas, trekking across various routes to fetch holy waters, will be carefully observed from an aerial perspective. The UP government's strategic approach to utilize a helicopter for this purpose aims to maintain peace and order during the procession, which holds tremendous cultural and religious significance.

Floral Homage from the Heavens

In addition to ensuring the safety and regulations, the helicopter will also serve to honor the devout by showering petals, thus transforming the spiritual procession into a spectacle graced with floral benedictions. The administration's plan underscores its commitment to safeguarding both the sanctity and security of the occasion through this dual-function aerial deployment.
