Adobe Targets New Heights in AI and Partnerships, Analysts Upbeat on Outlook

Published November 11, 2023

Adobe Inc. ADBE, a dominant force in the software industry, continues to lead the market with its comprehensive suite of products: Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud. BMO Capital Markets analyst Keith Bachman stands behind Adobe's promise, maintaining an Outperform rating with an elevated price target of $670, an increase from $645.

Integrating AI for Growth

Bachman emphasizes that Adobe's foray into artificial intelligence (AI), particularly through Adobe Express, positions the company to capture significant new Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and growth. The intersection of AI and Adobe's already robust suite of products points towards a future where the company not only maintains its current user base but also expands it by transforming free users into paying customers and up-selling existing customers to higher-tiered services.

Joining Forces with Microsoft

The integration of generative AI has been a notable highlight, and Adobe's collaboration with Microsoft Corporation MSFT is set to reap benefits well into the fiscal year 2024. After engaging with Adobe senior leadership, the analyst is optimistic about the strategic implications of such partnerships. However, it's not until the start of calendar year 2024 that Adobe will begin to charge for generative credits, which will be accounted for in ARR, indicating a calculated approach to revenue recognition over time.

Expanding and Evolving Partnerships

Beyond individual users, Adobe aims to establish a credit pool system within enterprise agreements, catering to the enterprise-level demand. Bachman sees this as a strategic move that not only broadens engagement but also introduces a scalable revenue stream. As more diverse forms of media get produced via Adobe's platforms, the pricing structures and credit strategies are expected to evolve, further driving revenue growth from a mid to long-term perspective, while expansion announcements regarding partnerships with other major tech players continue to serve as key catalysts for Adobe's market position and success.

Despite these forward-looking strategies, it is the generative credits that are positioned to significantly contribute to Adobe's revenue growth, although this impact is projected to materialize over a medium to longer-term horizon, not immediately.

With shares trading higher and the general optimism surrounding the company's alignment with AI and expanding partnerships, Adobe appears poised for sustainable success and market leadership.
