Meghan Markle Speaks About Prince Harry's Eating Habits in New Netflix Cooking Show
Meghan Markle recently shared insights into Prince Harry's eating preferences while hosting Mindy Kaling on her new Netflix cooking show, "With Love, Meghan." During their conversation, Markle prepared a homemade veggie frittata for Kaling, who commented on the challenge of seasoning egg dishes without tasting them first.
In a lighthearted exchange, Kaling expressed her struggle with getting the salt just right, saying, "I never know how to season it, so it always comes out too salty or not salty enough and it’s a big surprise." Markle then revealed that her husband, Prince Harry, who is known for adding salt to his food before tasting it, often influences her cooking style.
"Well, I have a family, a husband who, no matter what meal is being put in front of him, before he tastes it, puts salt on," Markle explained with a smile. She mentioned that due to Harry's tendency to prefer salt, she makes a conscious effort to “undersalt” the dishes she prepares for him.
Kaling responded playfully, saying, "I love knowing that your husband likes it salty," prompting laughter between the two. Throughout the episode, Markle also humorously addressed Kaling's insistence on calling her by her maiden name, correcting her by saying, “You know I’m Sussex now.”
The show, which premiered on Netflix on Tuesday, aims to highlight not just cooking but also aspects of family life. Markle reflected on the significance of sharing a last name with her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. She mentioned, "You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ It just means so much to go, ‘This is our family name, our little family name.’"
Despite its release to mixed reviews, Markle’s show has received both positive and negative feedback. Some critics from the UK found the series to be lacking depth and characterized as "exhausting" or "pointless." In contrast, US reporters viewed it as a welcome return to Markle’s lifestyle roots from her previous blog, The Tig. A writer from Town & Country noted, "She gets vulnerable, and her real joy and passion for cooking shine through," while another from Harper’s Bazaar remarked on Markle's evident happiness in her role as a mother and creative individual.
Throughout the show, Markle showcased various cooking and baking techniques, along with tips for hosting and DIY projects such as balloon arch-making and flower arranging.
